The Committee of Neuromuscular Abnormalities in Aging
Tasks
Neuromuscular Abnormalities is a collective term used to describe diseases that affect any part of the nervous system and muscles. Although there are many different forms that vary in onset, severity, and prognosis, Neuromuscular Abnormalities can have a significant direct and indirect impact on an individual leading to loss of functional capacity. The Neuromuscular Abnormalities aims to support members by providing training and resources related to Neuromuscular Abnormalities to support continuing professional benefit and promote best practices. Neuromuscular Abnormalities Committee reviewing and modifying exercise prescription and screening applications of any type of exercise training in older people with neuromuscular abnormalities. This Committee addresses current issues facing exercise prescription and functional promotion in older people with neuromuscular abnormalities through clinical practice, research, public information, leadership/mentoring programs, and advocacy. We also try to promote the role of an exercise physiologist and exercise trainer in the management of Neuromuscular Disorders in these people.
