The proportion and the absolute number of elderly in populations around the world are increasing dramatically. Aging is often accompanied by a loss of muscle mass, strength, and function (sarcopenia) and a loss of sensory, visual, or auditory function. These changes may occur in a non-linear manner, which results in very different levels of physical functioning in the older population. Considering the importance of aging in the world, the Society of Aging and Physical Activity (SAPA) was established. The Society of Aging and Physical Activity (SAPA) is a non-profit, independent organization. Our decision-makers and members are busy health and sports science professionals who volunteer their time and expertise. Our officers and leadership are renowned experts in aging and physical activity, who their time to help strengthen our organization and serve researchers and the elderly within the field of aging and physical activity. As a society of aging and physical activity, we promote excellence in aging and physical activity, leading to improved aging. One of the main issues addressed by SAPA are the impact of physical activity or exercise on physical Injuries and physiological functioning of older people, physical activity patterns in advanced age, and the relationship between physical activity and health. Hence, it is important for the association to keep at the forefront of non-pharmaceuticals research and maintains its position as one of the world’s scientific hotspots in aging and physical activity. Our mission is to foster and support the development of aging with physical activity across the world, leading to better outcomes.
